With this week being National Volunteer Week, it only seemed appropriate to revisit Rocky Mountain Conservancy – Conservation Corps’ volunteer efforts over the years and celebrate all of the work completed to help support the continued protection and stewardship of Rocky Mountain National Park and the Arapaho-Roosevelt National Forests.
Since 2003, Rocky Mountain Conservancy – Conservation Corps has provided 223 youth with an eleven week internship volunteering on our nation’s public lands. This amounts to a total of 98,120 volunteer hours! Over the course of this time, the Conservation Corps has completed numerous projects related:
- Trail maintenance
- Structure building
- Watershed restoration
- Revegetation
- Hazard tree removal
- Fire fuels reduction
- Visitor safety and education
- Campground restoration
- Bear bin and trail sign installation
- Flood recovery
- Erosion control
- Visitor impact mitigation
- And much more!
