Hike with a Naturalist: Bear Lake to Bierstadt Lake
Oct 13, 2022
Thursday, Oct. 13 2022, 8:00am – 12:00am
Beginning at picturesque Bear Lake, you’ll tackle a short climb before a gentle descent to Bierstadt Lake, a remnant of Rocky’s glacial past. Once at the lake, enjoy breathtaking views of the Continental Divide and keep an eye out for amphibians and waterfowl. You’ll finish your hike by descending the switchbacks to the Bierstadt Lake trailhead on Bear Lake Road, with sweeping valley views and Long’s Peak towering the distance. Dress in layers, as it will be cool in the morning but can be very warm on the sunny descent to Bear Lake Road.
This hike is approximately 4 miles in length, with an elevation gain of 350 feet and a maximum elevation of 9,770 feet.
Participants will meet at the Fall River Visitor Center on the East side of Rocky Mountain National Park and travel to the trailhead together in Rocky Mountain Conservancy vehicles. Park entrance fees are included with your reservation.
