Eugenia Mine Guided Hike
Jan 1, 2023
Join Rocky Mountain Conservancy for a guided winter hike to the Eugenia Mine historic site in Rocky Mountain National Park!
We’ll meet in downtown Estes Park, travel together to the trailhead, and then head into the woods! Your guide will discuss the history of the Eugenia Mine and other notable mining operations on the east side of RMNP. At the mine site, look for cabin ruins and mining equipment peeking out from the snow. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy at the mine while you savor a cup of hot chocolate prepared by your guide.
This hike is 3.8 miles round trip, with a total elevation gain of 695 ft. The trail starts at an elevation of 9,400 ft, so be prepared for high altitude hiking and winter trail conditions. Winter hiking boots and traction devices (such as micro-spikes or YakTrax) are recommended. In the event of fresh snow, Rocky Mountain Conservancy will provide snowshoes at no extra cost.
