Comanche Peaks Wilderness Trails Project

Join Rocky Mountain Conservancy-Conservation Corps and the Poudre Wilderness Volunteers (PWV) for a trail restoration project in the Comanche Peaks Wilderness!

The Comanche Peaks Wilderness borders the northern boundary of Rocky Mountain National Park and contains many trails linking the two public lands. Similar to Rocky Mountain National Park, the Comanche Peaks Wilderness and all of the Arapaho-Roosevelt National Forests have experienced increased visitation and been subject to recent natural disasters, including the 2013 Colorado floods. With these diverse impacts, it is imperative trails continue to be maintained and restored to mitigate impacts from visitation and future weather events.

On Saturday, August 3rd, 2019, the Conservation Corps is partnering with PWV to help continue trail restoration work on the North Fork Trail. This trail begins at the Dunraven Trailhead and travels nearly five miles through the Comanche Peaks Wilderness before entering Rocky Mountain National Park. The trail experience significant damage from the 2013 Colorado floods. After initial restoration efforts in recent years, additional areas have been identified for continued work to further restore the trail and ensure sustainable access. Join the Conservation Corps and PWV to complete trail restoration projects along this popular wilderness trail!
